I am beyond excited to have not one, but two of my ALL TIME FAVORITE ladies, graciously bless us with their presence on our blog. I am pleased to introduce you to Chef AJ and Julieanna Hever, also known as”The Chef and The Dietitian“. Both of these beautiful souls have generously offered to giveaway their books to a lucky reader on our PBJ blog, in celebration of my one year anniversary of living a plant-based lifestyle. How fabulous are they? CLICK HERE to read more about my anniversary.
Chef AJ was Part 1 of our giveaway. CLICK HERE to read more about Chef AJ and her awesome self, and our first giveaway. Today, I am honored to have Julieanna Hever, the Plant-Based Dietitian, as Part 2 of our Anniversary Giveaway.
I would like to start off by saying that these two amazing ladies, and their books, have helped me more than I can ever put into words. They both are tremendous inspirations, and role models who live by example. I have learned a tremendous amount regarding a plant-based lifestyle, from both of them. Please check out their websites, and read their books. Chef AJ can be found at http://www.eatunprocessed.com/, and her book is Unprocessed (with over 100 easy, delicious, nutrient-rich and gluten-free recipes).
Even though my one year celebration was in September, and I do realize that it is now February, I was waiting for just the right time to share Julieanna’s book, and interview with everyone. Our interview with Julieanna will be a little different than my previous interviews with our other blog guests. Instead of interviewing her via e-mail and then posting it here on our blog, I will be interviewing her LIVE, on our PBJ Radio Show. CLICK HERE to learn how to watch our LIVE Internet Talk Radio Show, find out the dates and times, and who our featured guests will be. I was able to catch the lovely Julieanna at just the right time, and the PBJ family will have the honor of getting to talk with her next Sunday, February 17th!! I AM SOOOOOOO EXCITED, I CANNOT WAIT!!
Who wants to know more about Julieanna, and why I am soooo excited that she is giving away a copy of her book?

THE BOOK -The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Plant-Based Nutrition
A growing number of physicians advocate a completely plant-based diet for many of their patients who suffer from diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.
In The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Plant-Based Nutrition, readers will find:
- Where to get nutrients that others get from meat and dairy.
- How to avoid the vegan pitfall of overfed but undernourished.
- How to spot hidden animal ingredients in packaged foods.
- Tips for eating at restaurants.
- Special considerations for children and seniors.
I know I have said this before, but this book is my Plant-Based Bible. Julieanna’s book also includes delicious recipes, which include: smoothies, breakfast goodies like blueberry banana pancakes, dressings, dinner meals like my favorite beans and greens chili, tasty snacks such as simply hummus, to scrumptious sweets that includes Chef AJ’s Outrageous Brownies and unclassic oatmeal raisin cookies, to name a few. She was also nice enough to even include some sample meal plans, nutrition charts, and a long list of resources to include: informational books, plant-based cookbooks, nutrition and health information, and even where to order food products.
I cannot sing enough praise about this book, as it has now been 17 months since I began my plant-based journey, and this book has been there for me every step of the way. I refer to it on a frequent basis regarding questions I receive about carbs, protein, dairy, vitamins, minerals, supplements, plant-based pregnancy, kids, seniors, athletes, weight loss, dodging diseases with diet, plant-based substitutions (how do I cook without eggs, what do I drink instead of dairy milk, what “meat” options are available, is there a substitute for cheese?)…I could go on and on. Julieanna touches on all of these subjects, and many more in her book. Again, I cannot recommend this book enough to EVERYONE. It is not just for newbies to this lifestyle, it is definitely for everyone. We ALL can benefit tremendously from this book.
I could spend all day raving about this fabulous human being. Let’s get to the GIVEAWAY, shall we?

I am researching and learning about plant based eating but need to undo 30+ yrs of menu ideas and replace with healthier options. I would like to make the daily grind of “what’s for dinner? (and breakfast and lunch)” easier..I completed Items: 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 9, 10. I already do items: 6, 8″
Best of luck in the giveaway, Beth!! Thanks for stopping by
After watching Forks Over Knives about two weeks ago, my husband and I agreed that we needed to switch to a whole foods plant-based diet. We are so new to this and have SO much to learn! I’ve never been a huge fan of vegetables, so I will definitely be looking for new recipes and new techniques to make them more appealing. I also am often overwhelmed by the nutrition information, and I worry that we (or our children) might not get all the nutrients that we need. I have to pretty much relearn everything about eating because the fundamental beliefs I’ve held my entire life are completely archaic! I completed 1, 3, 4, 6, 9, 10. Thank you!!
Jennifer, I can completely relate to everything you are saying! You should read my post, “rockin’ it out” that I posted recently: http://www.plantbasedjunkies.com/2013/01/10/rockin-it-out/. As long as you follow a whole-food, plant-based lifestyle, you will NOT be lacking in nutrients or vitamins. I also changed after watching FOK. “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food” ~Hippocrates is posted on my page for a reason. Food IS our medicine. I am so excited to follow you on your journey, so please keep us updated. Also, let us know if we can help at all! Good luck on the giveaway
Perhaps some really good vegan recipes. I have been vegetarian for over 20 yrs, but summer of 2012 went vegan & need good ways to get the cheese & egg out of recipes w/o adding 10 extra ingredients.
Hey Elizabeth!! This book definitely offers great, easy alternatives. Good luck
I would love to win this look to learn how to be plant based from breakfast to dinner and be better prepared. To gain an understanding of all around plant based nutrition so I can make choices better so I am not missing out on any nutrients and becoming inbalanced. The knowledge I gain will also allow me to help & inspire others!
I also did 3,4,5,6,8,9 & 10!
What better way to inspire others, Michele!! Good luck on the giveaway

I really would love to have this book for so many reasons! I have been plant strong for over 2 years and have fully experienced the eye opening reality to compassion and good nutrition. Although most people have no issue with my choice, as I don’t make it an issue, I am sometimes asked many questions. I would love to continue to educate myself so I am fully prepared to answer these questions confidently and as a bonus serve up delicious and nutritious recipes for my friends and family.

Good luck, Karen!
